The Ministry of Labor inaugurated the new Labor Minister Chen Hsiung-wen into office on August 22, 2014. The inauguration ceremony was overseen by Minister without Portfolio Tsai Yu-ling of the Executive Yuan. Newly appointed Labor Minister Chen Hsiung-wen received the Ministry of Labor official seal from Acting Minister Hao Feng-ming, and will carry the expectations of workers and their families, as well as those from all sectors to better labor policies. 
  
 The Ministry of Labor is the highest administrative body in charge of national labor affairs. Its mission is to protect labor rights and improve labor welfare. Minister Chen values the importance of communication and cherishes the opinions directed at labor affairs. The first action he took upon inauguration was to visit labor organizations for their suggestions that would be beneficial to the comprehensive planning of future labor policies. Though different parties with different interests might differ in their views on any given policy, and absolute agreement might not be possible, the Minister will seek consensus among all parties to reach the greatest common ground.
  
 The Ministry of Labor stated that Minister Chen will assume the commitment of the Ministry and its entire administrative staffs to further the welfare of workers and create a better working environment with the foundation that was laid down by the former Ministers before him. Minister Chen will also hold to the spirit of people-oriented, and stand alongside with workers to build a new milestone in labor history. The Minister welcomes all suggestions and criticisms from all sectors, and with these valuable views hopes to better labor policies that would better the lifestyles of workers and improve the competitiveness of enterprises and the nation.
