Look after your pension and remember to apply for the Labor Security Card

  • Last updated:2021-10-18

In order to provide a more accessible and convenient enquiry platform for workers who hold the personal pension account administered by the New Labor Pension Act, the Department of Labor Insurance have specially commissioned Land Bank, Taipei Fubon Bank, Taishin Bank and E.Sun Bank to introduce the ‘Labor Security Card’. The Labor Security Card allows cardholders to view the statement and balance of their pension account and print out their latest six transactions, which include details of debit and credit sides from employers and cardholders, at all ATMs provided by these participating banks free of charge. Cardholders will also be able to view relevant information of labor insurance on Internet banking websites run by card providers. The Department of Labor Insurance urges all fellow workers to look after their pension and remember to apply for the Labor Security Card.

The Department of Labor Insurance also reminds all fellow workers of the following:

1. In order to protect the information of the cardholder’s personal pension account, the Department of Labor Insurance will only pass the cardholder’s pension information onto the participating banks for allowing the cardholder to view and print out account information after the cardholder has signed a written agreement. If the cardholder decides not to own a Labor Security Card anymore, he or she must apply for the termination of the card to the card provider. After this procedure, the Department of Labor Insurance will no longer provide further information of the personal pension account to the bank for the cardholder to view and print out.

2. Due to the fact that the information of personal pension accounts is not passed onto the Financial Information Service Center, it is not possible to view account information through a different bank. Therefore if a cardholder has a card provided by Bank A, he or she can only view the balance of his or her account on the ATM provided by Bank A.

3. The application of the Labor Security Card is bonded for one year. The Labor Security Card can only be applied to one bank and only once within the one year bond. It is advised that workers should find out which bank’s ATM locations are more convenient for them before they choose the bank for application.

4. In order to comply with the regulations under banking law, the Labor Security Card must be incorporated with a chip on a debit card, credit card or cash card. Therefore when applying for a Labor Security Card combined with a debit card, the applicant must also open a bank account, although money in the account is not required.

5. If the Labor Security Card is lost or stolen and a replacement from the card provider is required, the card holder must not charge the cardholder more than two hundred New Taiwanese dollars for the replacement.
