On June 24, 2016, Ministry of Labor actively invited Taoyuan Flight Attendants' Union and China Airlines to initiate bargaining against seven appeals provided by Taoyuan Flight Attendants' Union. Finally, both parties reached a consensus for seven appeals through hours of conciliation and negotiations.
Ministry of Labor indicated that Taoyuan Flight Attendants' Union proclaimed starting the strike action on June 24, this year (2016), causing the public’s extreme concerns; basing on protection of labor rights and concurrently taking account of public transport facilities, Ministry of Labor carried out the bargaining in the building of Ministry of Labor on the same day at 4:00 p.m. The whole bargaining meeting was personally chaired by the minister of Ministry of Labor, Kuo, Fang-Yu. Upon the initial bargaining meeting of both the labor and the management, China Airlines released bona fides, with consent to resume “the report (leaving) place” and “the report (leaving) time”, and both the labor and the management conducted the communication against the seven appeals provided by Taoyuan Flight Attendants' Union one by one. Finally, both the labor and the management got the consensus for seven items, including “resume the original report place” at 8:00 p.m.
Ministry of Labor expressed appreciation and affirmation that although Taoyuan Flight Attendants' Union carried out the strike according to the law, it still returned to the negotiating table, rationally negotiating with China Airlines, and at last even successfully reached the consensus under the bona fides of both the labor and the management, as well as Ministry of Labor called on China Airlines continue to maintain the bargaining and interaction with Taoyuan Flight Attendants' Union in the future under taking account of such spirit as corporate governance, the public interest in providing transportation service for the public, as well as protection of the employees’ interests, in order to create the great well-being of employees, China Airlines and all people.
