Aiming at the severe 2-death occupational accident occurred during the construction of new engineering C605 Bid Shuangtung section of Nantou Section, National Highway No.6, the Ministry of Labor immediately assigned the Central Region Labor Inspection Office to go to the spot and examine the occupational disaster after receiving the news. Through the primary investigation, the reason of the disaster is that 2 victims came to the place under the hangings (earth iron barrel) to repair the earth door during the rotation of the crane, and were killed by the falling barrel. The Ministry of Labor indicates that because of the consideration that maybe the disaster shall occur again at the site, ordered the construction party to stop the construction, and it shall understand the disaster reasons further and the relevant personnel breaching of duty shall face the stringent punishment.

In addition the Ministry of Labor indicates that among the reasons causing disasters during the crane’s hanging operation, it mainly focuses on the reason that the employee enters into the lower part of hangings or the hangings pass the employee, and kills the employee in case of falling. In view of that, the Ministry of Labor has publicized the instances of severe occupational disasters caused by the crane as well as has emended and promulgated Article 92 of the Regulations for Labor Safety and Health Facilities, stipulated that employers shall take some measures against the hangings not pass the employee and employee’s assess to the lower part of the hangings during the rotation of the crane. 

The Ministry of Labor particularly calls on that because every year about 28 occupational disasters occur for the crane, all construction factories and manufacturing shall give a particular attention to the operation of the crane and hanging operation safety. In addition, the Ministry of Labor shall strengthen the examination for the high-risk work place and crane’s hanging operation.
