Parental Leave Without Pay System Extended to Cover All Employees, Starting on May 1 2009

  • Last updated:2021-10-18

According to CLA, in order to allow people working for employers hiring less than 29 employees to apply for parental leave without pay and allowances, Article 16 of the Gender Equality in Employment Law was amended and promulgated on Jan. 16, 2008. The original provision allowing only people working for employers with at least 30 employees to apply for parental leave without pay was removed. The new regulation is in line with the Employment Insurance Act and allows all employees to apply for parental leave without pay and allowances. Both took effect on May 1, 2009
