Promotion of Gender Equality Measures

Employers are liable for granting menstruation leave, maternity leave, fraternity leave, parental leave, and family leave to employees. In addition, employers hiring more than one hundred employees shall set up breastfeeding (breast milk collection) room, childcare facilities or provide suitable childcare measures.

Enterprise breastfeeding (breast milk collection) room, childcare facilities and measures: based on Article 23 of Gender Equality in Employment Act, "Employers hiring more than one hundred employees shall set up breastfeeding (breast milk collection) room, childcare facilities or provide suitable childcare measures. Competent authorities shall provide financial assistance for those employers who have set up breastfeeding (breast milk collection) room, childcare facilities or provided suitable childcare measures for their employees." To realize the gender equality in employment policy, promote female employment, increase labor participation of female workers, facilitate establishment of breastfeeding (breast milk collection) room, childcare facilities by employers or contract with registered childcare service institutions, and the employers providing childcare subsidies , the Ministry of Labor has developed the subsidy scheme to solve the child care issue of employees:

  1. In terms of the breastfeeding (breast milk collection) room shall be subsidized with a maximum NT$20,000.
  2. In terms of child care facilities, the newly established and registered child care facilities shall be subsidized with a maximum of NT$2 million; the originally established and registered ones shall be subsidized with a maximum NT$500,000 annually.
  3. In terms of child care measures, the subsidy for employees' child care services is a maximum NT$600,000 annually.
