Any worker aged 15 or older and hired by an employer who holds a practice license (e.g., an attorney or certified public accountant), has been legally registered (e.g., a company, business, or civil association), is a tax resident or has received an employment permit legally issued by the central competent authority, or any employee of a government agency (or institution), non-departmental public body or public or private school who is legally barred from enrollment in the insurance for civil servants and teachers shall be mandatorily enrolled in the Labor Occupational Accident Insurance by his/her employer, institution, or unit.
The following persons shall apply mutatis mutandis to mandatory enrollment:
Apprentices, foster workers, and interns of any business and other persons similar to apprentices in nature, as defined by the Labor Standards Act.
Students participating in cooperative education programs, as defined by the Act of the Cooperative Education Implementation in Senior High Schools and the Protection of Student Participants’ Rights.
Persons receiving assistance under public law.
Any worker aged 15 or older who has no definite employer or is self-employed shall be enrolled in the Labor Occupational Accident Insurance by the trade union or fishermen’s association of which he/she is a member.
Any person aged 15 or older who is receiving training at an occupational training institution registered with the government or an agency engaged by the government to conduct occupational training shall be enrolled in the Labor Occupational Accident Insurance with the institution or agency as the insuring unit.
